Your weekly Cuisine articles used to be why I picked up New Times. It was always well written and had great reviews of local or interesting restaurants, chefs, food events, and was always concise and very positive, as well as easy to read. The added bonus was “Kathy’s Picks”: brief descriptions of wine recommendations, price, and where to buy.
Over the last month, I just don’t get it. First, an article about the new writer’s background, which I couldn’t follow or understand (“A toast to all the things I’ve never eaten,” June 5). Last week, a story about mushroom farming (“Shroomin’ with Edna Valley’s friendly neighborhood mycophile,” June 19)? This week, your article was about composting (“Anatomy of a compost pile,” June 26)—really?
I liked to read about cuisine; if you want to rename this the Farmers Corner, that’s OK, just not for me. All I can tell is that within one month’s time, your new writer has taken the Cuisine feature and turned it, literally, to s**t!
