Sometimes the individual parts are greater than the whole, and sometimes it’s a close tie.

Such is the case with graphic artists Jimmy apRoberts and Brian Christopher’s Exquisite Corpse piece, which is 8 feet tall and 30 feet wide and hangs above the coffee bar at Kreuzberg Coffee Co. in San Luis Obispo. It’s a surrealist-inspired graphic art piece where vivid colors contrast, interweaving black with trees growing into the sky and the Earth with a woman and includes 36 different panels (the artists went back and forth to create it using an old parlor game that inspired the name of the work). When New Times last spoke to the artists in October 2015, the digital version of Exquisite Corpse had 72 panels. See the entire version of this graphic art piece in all its printed glory at Studios on the Park in Paso Robles through Sept. 25. Visit studiosonthepark.org for more information.
