The Talley family is highly regarded for their dedication to quality, whether they’re selling vegetables or wines. That’s why I’m always eager to visit them when they’re ready to release their latest wines into the marketplace. I wasn’t disappointed in this delightful Pinot Noir, a blend of Pinot Noir grapes grown in their Rincon Vineyard, 82 percent, and Rosemary’s Vineyard, 18 percent, aged 17 months in French oak barrels. This delicious wine, grown in a cool climate, offers characteristic bright red fruit notes of tangy Bing cherry, strawberry, and raspberry, highlighted with nuances of plum, spice, and minerals. Talley recommends pairing it with a wild mushroom ragout or seared duck breast. I enjoy it with steak, salmon, or ahi hot off the grill. Always a good buy, it’s $36 retail at the Talley tasting room in rural Arroyo Grande Valley or talleyvineyards.com.
