If I were to give you clues like: “honey suckle,” “stone fruit,” “caramel,” and “oak,” you might answer, “chardonnay,” right? Well, what if I were to tell you these flowery words aptly describe Tap It Brewing Company’s Wheat Vine Chardonnay Barrel-Aged Ale? I know, shocking! This “wheat wine”—composed of half malted wheat and flaked wheat—rested on French oak for five months and features a light, fluffy mouthfeel that warms the palate slightly. If you’re curious, we don’t blame you. Go get some, and pair it with the best of fall flavors.
• Tap It Brewing Co.’s Wheat Vine Ale—Price upon request; 675 Clarion Court, SLO.
Kelsey See Canyon’s chardonnay vineyard and apple orchard made a beautiful baby with this wine, which displays the very best of both worlds. Fermented with pure apple juice, this shimmering, golden apple wine is the obvious winner for holiday pie pairing (hello Dutch apple and pecan!). What? You don’t pair your pies with wine? You’re missing out.
