Dylan Freiberg closed the deal this month on the purchase of The Shack on Foothill Boulevard in San Luis Obispo. Freiberg bought the popular eating and drinking establishment from Fabrizio Paolozzi, who was asking $199,000 for the business. Paulozzi took over ownership of the restaurant from Scott and Laci Peterson in April 2001.
The Shack made headlines in Newsweek earlier this year when Paolozzi listed the business on eBay, advertising it as the restaurant formerly owned by the convicted killer. Last November, Scott Peterson was convicted of murdering his wife, Laci, and their unborn son. In March he was sentenced to die by lethal injection.
Freiberg, who worked at The Shack for a few months before purchasing it, has been very busy remodeling and refurbishing the business, adding new amenities like a huge flat-screen TV. As new owner, Freiberg's top priority is to dismiss the connection between his restaurant and the sordid murder trial.
