Lois Capps needs to get past her 1969 oil-spill mentality and embrace modern technology and science. Energy and oil are for everyone, not only for the elite who fly to Washington weekly on planes using oil. Our economy needs the oil. With increased drilling, prices will decrease because the oil-producing counties will no longer have a have a choke hold on us.
Modern drilling will not harm the environment. Natural seeps in the channel are the greatest source of air and oil pollution in Santa Barbara County. †The natural seepage of oil exceeds the 1969 oil spill every year. Drilling will relieve the pressure under the sea bed, thereby reducing air and oil pollution. Drilling is safe. †Slant drilling from existing platforms and from on-shore sites negates the need for new platforms, enhances tourism and in fact, cleans up the environment.
“Follow the Money.” The GOO Organization, formed as a response to oil spillage, opposes rational drilling because it would lose its reason for existence and funding. The extreme environmentalism has become an irrational religion. I will solve problems, not obstruct sound science and hurt working Americans with high gasoline and energy prices.
