Remember: Trickle Down Economy? Shock and Awe? Mission Accomplished? Drill, Baby, Drill? Too Big to Fail? No Regulations? Iraq War? Iraq War priority over the Afghan War?
If you don’t remember, I would like to remind you. They were courtesy of the Republican Party and the George W. Bush Administration.
Americans are fearful of the nation’s economy. Rightfully so. But remember the current Great Recession began in 2007 while President Bush was in command and the Republicans had full Washington control from 2003 to 2007. Vice President Dick Cheney wrote the nation’s energy policy solely with the help of the petroleum companies. The reason for the Iraq War was a Bush Administration fabrication. While fighting two wars, Bush provided tax cuts, significantly cutting the top income bracket 33 percent; capital gains 15 percent. Top income tax bracket under Dwight Eisenhower (Korean War): 91 percent! Under Richard Nixon (Vietnam War): 70 percent.
In 2008, Phil Gramm, a former senator and John McCain’s chief economic adviser, said the problems of the American economy were “in the minds” of the American people—that we are “a nation of whiners.”
The Republican Party has a way of accepting responsibility? Be careful who you vote for.
