Law enforcement officials had their work cut out for them at Lake Nacimiento this Memorial Day Weekend. On May 27, deputies arrested Alfred Canchola, 25, of Ventura, on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon after what they believe was a gang-related fight. Canchola suffered a gunshot wound to the bicep, which may have been self-inflicted.

Over the proceeding three days sheriff's deputies
also arrested at least four others for boating under
the influence and six for public intoxication.

And then there was the boating crash that happened on May 27 when Brandon Crudo, 20, tried to drive his boat through the Narrows at 30 mph. He hit a rock and six of his 12 passengers were thrown from the boat. Four were injured, although their status and the extent of their injuries was unavailable as of press time. Deputies arrested Crudo for felony boating under the influence.

And on May 28, according to officials on the scene, rescuers trying to aid a woman having a seizure were impeded by some revelers, all of whom were subsequently arrested and taken to jail.

Nacimiento officials were unavailable for
comment.

As for whether or not this weekend saw an abnormal number of arrests, SLO County sheriff's deputies were also unavailable for comment as of press time. ³
