This multiple-award-winning, bargain-priced, white blend, another impressive cuvee from Gubler, is best discovered now. It recently won the prestigious “Best of Show” out of 300 red and white wines competing at the California State Fair, where it was also awarded “Best White Wine.” Promoted by the winery as the “power of four,” the cuvée includes four varieties: Vermentino, Verdelho, Viognier, and Sauvignon Blanc. An elegant, subtle white, Gubler said this vintage was improved by adding only a small amount of Sauvignon Blanc. He noted: “It’s a complex blend but a complete package.” It offers stone fruit and floral aromas and flavors, enhanced with subtle tropical notes. Wonderful as an aperitif, it’s a good choice for roast chicken, halibut, or pasta primavera. Priced $16 retail, this notable wine won’t last long in the tasting room.
