We can't run out of water; we've got the ocean

Perhaps you can enlighten me on why we are worried about running out of water when we have a free ocean. Yes, the ocean belongs to us! It is free and we have the knowledge to build large desalination plants.

The largest desalination facility in the western hemisphere is in Carlsbad, Calif., producing 54 million gallons of fresh water daily. PG&E plans to give all of its excess water to San Luis Obispo. The technology exists to use the ocean waves to power a new plant.

People who say it will cost too much to build such a plant, do not realize that the $400 million a plant would cost would be peanuts compared to the suffering we would all experience when our fields and water supplies disappear.
