Where are Christians during the war?

comment

I saw a bumper sticker the other day that said, “What part of Thou Shalt Not Kill do you not understand? It might have referred to abortion, the death penalty, murder, or war.

With the exception of the Pope, I realized that I haven’t heard any churches publicly denounce Bush’s unprovoked attack on Iraq that has killed thousands on very questionable grounds. Do the religious leaders on the Central Coast support Bush’s behavior? Is this what they promote in their churches, or is their silence on the matter enough to convey their stance?

Because I hear a lot of controversy over prayer in schools and gay marriage in the name of preserving the moral fabric of our culture. I also see people with signs protesting abortion in the name of Jesus. So can someone out there help me understand how those issues are important to Christians, yet the tragic death count for Bush’s war is just ho-hum news? Have the Ten Commandments become obsolete? What part of Christianity do I not understand?
